Marriage Requirements
In Curacao, you must be 18 years of age or older to be legally married, and only civil marriages are recognized by law. Religious ceremonies are welcome, however, you would do so after your civil wedding. Symbolic weddings are also welcome, however, won't be legal once you return home. A letter must be written to the civil registrar requesting to get married and must be signed by both bride and groom, groom and groom or bride and bride, along with all personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, and emails. Documents that are required are a copy of your passport, a copy of your birth certificate, divorce or death decrees if applicable, your professions as well as your parent's profession and your parent's personal information. You may write the letter in English, but then will later be translated to Dutch. Please contact your NOW travel consultant for any other questions as they will be able to help with all requirements.
Travel Information
To visit Curacao, tourists may only visit for 90 days. Valid passports are needed and some countries require a visa. Make sure to advise your country's travel information website for more information and possibly other travel documents. The official language of Curacao is Dutch, however, English and Spanish are spoken across the island. Residents of the island speak Papiamentu, which is a blend of Dutch, Spanish, French, English, Portuguese, African and Arawak Indian. Don't be worried about learning a new language, all resorts and tourist intensive areas all speak English and Spanish. The official currency is florin, however, US dollars are accepted in many places without the exchange rate. Credit cards are widely accepted across the island.
