Marriage Requirements

For those looking to get married in Costa Rica, you will require original birth certificates, single status affidavits and of course your valid passports. If applicable, you will also require divorce and death decrees. 

Travel Information

To visit Costa Rica, you will need valid passports. Make sure to advise your country's travel information website for more information and possibly other travel documents. The official language of  Costa Rica is Spanish, however, English is spoken and understood at resorts and tourist intensive areas. The official currency is the colon, however, US dollars are accepted in many places.

The climate in Costa Rica is year-round tropical. The average temperature is 80 degrees F, with summer from December to April and a rainy season from May to November. The months in between these dates are the best for wedding climates! Costa Rica has a wide range of beaches from the Caribbean to Pacific, with white sands to volcanic black sands. Due to the country's 50 volcanos across the island, lava deposits form the black sand. The best location to visit the black sands is Playa Negra. Due to the color, it can get pretty hot, especially in the summer months, so make sure you have some sandals on or cool off in the blue waters!

Pavones is the perfect place to catch those awesome waves for those surfers out there. Due to its location, Pavones is known for their great waves and perfect weather for surfing. Pavones is a 7-hour drive from the airport in San Juan, but for surfers out there, it is one of the best places in the world for surfing.
